About Supported Birth

Supported birth is the working name of Gina Cox-Roberts, a birth and postnatal doula and Natal Hypnotherapy practitioner based in Birmingham and covering Birmingham, the Black Country, Shropshire and surrounds.

Please note that I had a baby myself in October 2007. As a result I will have limited availablility at present - details of what is and isn't available is listed on the individual service pages. I do expect to be available to offer Antenatal Services, One Off Postnatal visits and Natal Hypnotherapy on a one-to-one basis, so please do get in touch if any of these things is of interest.

I firmly believe that every woman can have a magical and beautiful birth experience. As a doula, I work with mothers and their partners providing support, information and empowerment before, during and after labour and birth.

Research has shown that a constant supportive presence throughout labour results in:

From 'Mothering the Mother' by Klaus, Kennell, and Klaus (1993).

I am a member of Doula UK, and I have completed Nurturing Birth's Doula Training. I also practice Indian Head Massage and Reiki. I believe that every woman should have access to a doula should she want one, and will take on clients on low incomes with the support of the Doula UK Hardship Fund.

With Natal Hypnotherapy, I teach courses to expectant couples so that they can use hypnosis themselves for pain management, release from anxieties and increased confidence in their birth.

I will work respectfully, honestly and without prejudice with any expectant mother or partnership, regardless of race, nationality, religious belief, sexuality, age or disability and I abide by the Doula UK code of practice.

I am insured by Independent Professional Therapists International and have an up-to-date Enhanced CRB Disclosure certificate.
